1. INTRODUCTION
A three-day Soft Skill Training Programme was conducted at the *Employability Centre, Kasaragod*, from *23rd July 2026 to 25th July 2026*. The programme was designed to improve the participants’ personal, interpersonal, communication and employability skills and to prepare them to confidently face academic and professional opportunities.
The training included interactive sessions, self-assessment activities, practical exercises, communication activities, relaxation techniques, interview preparation and workplace-oriented learning.
OBJECTIVES
* To introduce participants to the importance of soft skills in personal and professional life.
* To help participants understand their strengths, interests and areas for improvement.
* To develop career planning and career decision-making skills.
* To improve communicative English and professional communication.
* To develop confidence and a positive personality.
* To improve interview preparation and HR interview skills.
* To introduce ATS-friendly resume preparation.
* To develop professional email writing skills.
* To familiarize participants with workplace etiquette.
* To introduce stress-management and relaxation techniques.
* To prepare participants for employment opportunities and professional environments.
DAY 1
1. Introduction to Soft Skills
The first session introduced the concept and importance of soft skills. Participants were familiarized with the role of communication, confidence, teamwork, adaptability, professionalism and interpersonal skills in career development.
2. Career Planning
The participants were introduced to the importance of setting career goals and planning their career pathways. The session focused on identifying career interests, understanding available opportunities and making informed career decisions.
3. Self-Assessment
A self-assessment session was conducted to help participants understand their strengths, interests, abilities, personality characteristics and areas requiring improvement. Participants were encouraged to reflect on their skills and personal qualities.
4. Standard Progressive Matrices Test
Participants were introduced to the *Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM) Test* as an assessment activity. The activity helped participants understand the importance of logical reasoning, observation, pattern recognition and problem-solving abilities.
5. Confidence Building
The session focused on developing self-confidence and reducing hesitation while communicating with others. Participants were encouraged to recognize their strengths and participate actively in individual and group activities.

DAY 2
1. Communicative English
The session focused on improving basic English communication skills required in educational and workplace situations. Participants practiced introducing themselves, expressing opinions, asking questions and participating in conversations.
2. Professional Email Writing
Participants were introduced to the basic structure of professional emails. The session covered appropriate subject lines, greetings, message structure, professional language, closing and email etiquette.
Practical examples were provided for writing emails related to job applications, interview requests and professional communication.
3. ATS-Friendly Resume Preparation
Participants learned about the importance of an *ATS-friendly resume* and the basic principles of creating an effective resume with a practical help from the IT officier . The session covered:
* Appropriate resume structure
* Professional summary
* Education and qualifications
* Skills
* Work experience
* Keywords
* Simple and readable formatting
* Avoiding unnecessary graphics and complicated layouts
Participants were encouraged to prepare resumes that clearly present their qualifications and skills.
4. Interview Preparation
The session introduced participants to the different stages of interview preparation. Participants learned about researching the organization, understanding the job role, preparing common interview questions and presenting themselves professionally.
5. HR Interview Techniques
The participants were familiarized with common HR interview questions and appropriate ways of answering them. Emphasis was given to clear communication, confidence, positive body language, active listening and professional behaviour.
6. Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation
A practical session on Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) was conducted. Participants were introduced to relaxation techniques that can help reduce physical tension and promote calmness. The activity was particularly connected to managing nervousness and stress before interviews and other professional situations.

DAY 3
1. Personality Development
The session focused on developing a positive and professional personality. Participants were encouraged to understand the importance of self-awareness, positive attitude, grooming, communication, confidence and professional behaviour.
2. Workplace Etiquette
Participants learned about appropriate behaviour in professional environments. Topics included:
* Punctuality
* Professional communication
* Respect for colleagues
* Appropriate workplace behaviour
* Team cooperation
* Telephone and email etiquette
* Professional appearance
* Maintaining workplace discipline
3. Interview Preparation and HR Interview Techniques
The interview preparation session was further reinforced through practical activities. Participants practiced answering common HR questions and were encouraged to use structured, clear and confident responses.
4. Confidence Building and Body Language
The session focused on developing confidence during professional interactions. Participants learned about eye contact, posture, facial expressions, gestures, voice modulation and active listening.
5. Career Readiness
The final session integrated the skills covered during the three-day programme. Participants were encouraged to apply their communication, resume, interview, confidence and workplace skills while preparing for employment opportunities.

CONCLUSION
The three-day Soft Skill Training Programme conducted from 23rd to 25th July 2026 at the Employability Centre, Kasaragod, provided participants with a comprehensive foundation in personal development, communication, career planning and employability skills.
The training successfully supported participants in becoming more confident, professional and career-ready, while encouraging them to continuously develop their skills for future employment opportunities.
The programme concluded on a positive note with the VG Officer’s wind-up session, participant interaction and feedback collection. The overall feedback indicated that the programme was useful and relevant to the participants’ career development and employment preparation.
